About Acupuncture
Does Acupuncture Hurt? No, acupuncture does not hurt. The needles are much finer than regular hypodermic needles, and they’re inserted very quickly so at most it feels like a gentle poke.
How often do I need the treatments? Depending on the severity of your condition, age, constitution, and your lifestyle, multiple sessions are often required to reach your wellness goals. However, the goal of each session is to make a discernible difference for you so you can feel the immediate benefits.
What are the most commonly treated conditions? The most commonly treated conditions include muscle and joint pains, anxiety, stress management, gastrointestinal dysfunction, and palliative care for cancer and post-surgery patients.
What is sports acupuncture? Sports acupuncture implies utilizing the proven best practice to address most common pain and muscle issues caused by repetitive use and injuries; issues that confront everybody (not just athletes, dancers, musicians) regularly. So in addition to the overall constitutional treatment, sports acupuncture pays particular attention to treating soft tissue related pain and injuries.
Are the needles sterile? Acupuncture needles are sterile and single use only. California state law requires all licensed acupuncturists to be certified in Clean Needle Techniques and only use sterilized, individually packaged, disposable needles. And I adhere to the same protocol here in Argentina.
Are there any side effects? One of the characteristics of acupuncture is the almost complete absence of adverse effects and complications from its use. In rare occasions, bruising or blistering might occur, but these symptom always spontaneously dissolve in a couple days with no lingering effect. Most patients find that the treatments are relaxing with minimal discomfort. Acupuncture is a safe modality as long as the acupuncturists are properly trained, follow appropriate procedures, and apply correct techniques.
About My Practice
How long is each treatment? The standard duration for each treatment is 50 minutes. I start with needling the patient’s dorsal side with the patient lying face up first, and then I will work on the patient’s back side where most of the muscular pains occur. The combination of front and back treatment allows me to treat the patient’s entire system.
How much is each treatment? Thanks to the ever escalating prices, please refer to the booking system for the latest cost.
Do you do other treatments such as cupping, moxa, or electrical stimulation? I almost never do cupping and gua sha in my clinic because I found the efficacy to be less than desired. I will do warm needles (moxa on needles) on the patient’s abdomen if that is the right treatment protocol for the patient’s condition. For muscle related issues (the focus of the ‘sports acupuncture’), I utilize electrical stimulation extensively because it consistently yields the best results.
There is not additional cost for warm needles or electrical stimulation, it’s included in the price of the treatment.
How do I book an appointment? All appointments are made online on this website. You may find the “appointment” button at the top menu.
Do I need an appointment? Yes, an previously accepted appointment is required. I do not accept drop-in’s.
Do you accept insurance? No, I do not accept insurance. Nothing brings me down more and makes me want to quit more than having to deal with insurance companies.
What methods of payments do you accept? I accept cash, bank transfers, CashApp, or MercadoPago only. Sorry, I do not accept credit cards.
How to Prepare Myself for the Treatment
Please wear loose fitting clothes so I can have easy access to areas below your knees, distal to your elbows. I often work on the traps where a lot of people carry their tension, so please wear clothes that allow me to access areas too.
Like all medical office visits, the first time patients will be asked to enter the pertinent personal data, medical history, as well as chief complaints. All this will be done via an online secure form so you can enter that information from your preferred digital device anywhere. Ideally, I will receive the your data prior to your arrival, so I have a chance to review them so I can understand the purpose of your visit ahead of time, so we can maximize the use the clinic time for treatments.
